Allegheny River’s pristine beauty puts it in class by itself
Shoving off from Crull Island into the Allegheny River after a night of Robinson Crusoe-style camping, with the early morning fog clinging thickly to the green mountaintops and later a bald eagle soaring in and out of the mist, it was easy to see what the first French explorers to visit this part of northwestern Pennsylvania were thinking.
