Plastic worms and spinnerbaits. I catch the vast majority of my bass on one or the other of these.

3/4 oz. to 1 oz. Blue and Silver Rattle Trap. Don't fool around with anything smaller unless you like small fish.
I also like to fish slow and deep with a 10-14 in. purple plastic worm

A "Devil's Horse" topwater lure cast towards weeds early in the morning, right before daylight, wait till ripples in water disappear before starting a slow retrieve.

Plastic worms and spinnerbaits are must haves, but I primarily use a jig and trailer. Never go bigger than 1/2 oz. jig, and try to find trailers that match your jig heads. Hint: Go for natural looking colors such as browns, greens, blacks, and combinations. Trial and error is the best way to see what works where you like to fish. This is one of my favorites because you can fish a lot of structure to get at those big bass.

You want a small arsenal of lures that cover your water from top to bottom. First must have lure: The Zoom Trick Worm. Experiment with colors like watermelon, pumpkin, and purples. Second must have lure: The Berkley Power Worm. Too many colors to list. I like Black, Tequila Sunrise, and Blue Fleck. Third must have lure: 1/2 Ounce Rat-l-Trap lipless crankbait. Pick your lake's forage. Fourth must have lure: Bomber Fat Free Shad lipped crankbait. I like white with the chartreuse back. Fifth must have lure: A good quality Spinnerbait. I like white ones, pick one that makes you go,"Oooooh, that should catch a fish." Sixth must have lure: Get a jitterbug, I like the black one. Get a Hulla-popper in the frog colors. And you can't go wrong with the clear plastic(that means you can see through it) Heddon Torpedo! And I know that was more than one. As for number seven.....tell him what he's won Bob........A pack of Yum Dingers and some Tikki Stikks. You'll love them. They require no added weight and a stout hook. Actually, Bass love them more than you will. Tight lines and good luck.
