I use what ever it takes to catch the Bass...Spinner baits, plastic, jigs, buzz baits, etc. Right now in my part of the world most of the fishing is done at night...so I have mainly been fishing black/blue jigs, 10" Blk/blu flk power worm, or a 1/2 oz. single Colorado blade spinner bait.
Favorite Spinning rod is a G.Loomis -6' 8"- MossyBack - BSR852 w/ a Shimano Stradic MgFA - ST2500MgFA spooled with 10# Sunline Shooter flourocarbon line.
Have 2 others on my boat as well.
My other Spinning rods are Falcon 6'-8" M with Shimano Stradics spooled with either 6 or 8# line, I also carry 5 extra spools for these reels, spooled with differant weight lines.
Favorite Bait Caster is a Powell- 7'-0"- 704 C Ex-Fast w/ a Abu Garcia - REVO - SX, spooled with 14# Vicious Copolymer Clear Blue Fluorocarbon line.
But I have 9 others on my boat rigged in different ways.
Other rods are either H & H - 7ft. Med or MH action with Diawa X reels or Falcon 6'-8" MH one has a Pflueger President and one has a Supreme other Falcon Rod has a Daiwa Zillion 100SHA all spooled with 14# line. One H & H 7 Ft. M cranking rod with a Diawa spooled with 10# line for deep cranking, two other rods are spooled with 12# line.
THese rods stay in my boat and go every trip, used or not, that way I always have a back up if something goes wrong wtih another one. That is not counting all the other gear you can get in a 20 ft Triton....Floating Tackle store...LOL

My favorite style is what i catch the most bass on. So I use a pflueger trion reel with 8lb test, 6'6" All star med/heavy action rod. This combo gives you great control of your lure, and allows for an easy pitch along brush and tree lines, really puts the lure where you want it. And its just a great ALL AROUND set-up that you can switch to many different types of lures.
I really get bored easily, so I like to use soft plastic 4" zoom lizards in a watermelon/red flake color. Texas rigged with a 1/0 hook. you can not work this lizard wrong, fast, slow, weightless, or on the bottom, I have caught more fish with this set-up. I also like the new 3"-4" tubes, put a ball rattle inside, and rig it carolina or texas, slow pumps to get the rattle working and just let it glide back down towards the bottom. watch your line where it goes into the water, not your rod tip, as soon as you see it move any direction set the hook your on!! White works great in any weather condition. 1/0 hook also, weightless, it swims like nothing i ahve seen.
LURES- Bomber fat free shad in bass color, stop and go retrieve. Lucky craft "sammy" is really good early or even at night, but not good during the day. eakins jigs are really hot lures right now if your fishing around structures on the bottom. They are a little difficult to fish with if your new to jig fishing, but they do work GREAT! Good Luck!!

If you want to know just about anything to do with bass fishing, then this website is one of the best I have seen. Loads of good articles which you can read or listen to.
I seem to recall that they also offer a very good free report as well. It's well worth paying them a visit at http://www.fishinginformationguide.com/bass . I would be interested in hearing what you think.

I really don't have a favorite rod and reel type, I use both. My favorite way to fish is dragging the bottom with a jig or a plastic worm.

Spinnerbaits with a Colorado Blade. Either Chartuese or Red n Black in color.
My second favorite are speed crankbaits. I like to cover alot of ground fast and see whats here or there, weather it be looking for cover or fish. It helps give me a great idea of where the fish might be and later on and I can come back to the spot with something slower, like a rattletrap or spinnerbait.
My thrid favorite is a plastic worm. I have about 20 different colors/shapes/sizes. But my favorite color of a plastic worm would be one of the three: Red Shad, June Bug, or Tequlia Runrise.
All my rods and reels are the same, I use Mitchell reels 6.1.1. ratio with a med-action berkely rod. I might have one reel that has bigger line then 12 lb test on it, but I don't think I do.
