For you I would use plastic worms, they are cheap to replace and if you do not fish for Bass where you can lose lures, then your chances of catching any Bass will DROP to almost -0-

Bass live in the brush, weeds and deep ledges they are always on structure or immediately next to it because they are predators and must not spend more energy eating than what the food source provides or they will die so they are ambush artists of the finest kind, like a coyote Cast only where you may lose a lure and you will lose lures while you are catching fish.

plastic worms are probably your best bet. You can get some ZOOM worms for like 3 bucks and there are plenty to a pack so you can afford to fish where you can get hung up. Practice casting around trees and weeds without getting hung up and when you get a little more comfortable go and get a buzz bait and one of those super spook top water baits they are a little pricey but very fun to fish with. theres nothing like watching a big bass blow up on a top water bait!!!!
