beastballaon 26 Dec 2009 at 5:44 am 1i’m gonna say about 8-12 lb test. i used to live in texas and bass fish all the time. so much fun!
Justinon 26 Dec 2009 at 6:40 am 2Use fluorocarbon. I know it can be a pain. But so was the first baitcasting reel I bought. With fluorocarbon you can get away with a larger diameter because it is very low vis. Berkley Vanish or Bass Pro XPS Fluorocarbon IN 8-12LB area is good
bassplayer_1313on 26 Dec 2009 at 7:28 am 3l use 8lb maxima mono most commonly, but do use up to 14lb especially when fishing stick ups and other brushy/weedy spots. mostly 8 -10 with plastic worms, smaller topwaters and crankbaits. 12 on larger topwaters like zara spooks. my largest bass so far was over 13lb on 8lb test with a 4″ plastic worm.
Alex Zon 26 Dec 2009 at 7:30 am 4for my all purpose rig i use 15# copolymar. i usually don’t do alot of finesse fishing but when i do i use 8 to 10#. i’d use 10# just in case you hook a lunker. and make sure your drag is adjusted right because i hooked a big one on 10#.. it broke off cause my drag was down tight. hope this helps!
FishSteelheadon 26 Dec 2009 at 7:52 am 5With light tackle think I’d go with either 8 or 10 # test;)…< ' ( (( > <

Ken Bear Con 26 Dec 2009 at 8:55 am 7I guide Trout and Bass in Portland, Oregon. Here is what I use.
I use 20LB braided Power Pro for my main line and 10LB fluorocarbon for my leader. Make sure you use a large barrel swivel to attach the lines. I tie the leader using a Triline knot, then use a palomar knot on the main line.
Check out how to tie the knots: http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
