Can I use the same fishing rod for fishing bass in ponds and flounder in the bay?

Charles Sloneon 04 Aug 2010 at 11:29 pm 1Yea if you’re not catching HUGE flounders. Flounders can get in the hundreds, while bass are hardly caught over 10 lbs. If you’re catching smaller flounders (Say, 1-15 pounders.) then the rod should hold up pretty well.
justintodd1979on 05 Aug 2010 at 12:04 am 2hey man, you sure can. now here is the trick though. if you are using a freshwater reel when you are going after the flounder make sure that you run the reel under freshwater for a couple mins. after you get back to the house. and what i do is get you a can of wd-40 and spray the reel and if you have a spinning reel pull the spool off and spray the insides of the spool off too. what the wd-40 and water does is gets the salt out of the gear works. keeps it from corroding. man i hope that helps you out a bit. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
gimmenamenowon 05 Aug 2010 at 12:40 am 3Oh yeah, no reason why not, just remember what’s already been mentioned… rinse out your reel after you’re done… no quicker way to kill your equipment than to let it sit with salt water in it for any amount of time.
