umm js in the state of the south carolina you will not find a bass on the beds, maybe during the spring but not during january. Thats way to early for them.

I’ve fished with $1 dollar inline spinners and with $5+ inline spinners and I’ve caught plenty on both. I’ve started makeing my own inline spinners and I’ve caught more bass on them then with the store bought ones. Hmm, guess you are right, they are different. My homemade ones are cheaper and more effective. Good call!

dont give advice on what you dont know about, inline spinners are very different brand to brand. for instince compare panther martin with mepps or south bend. panther martin, and rooster tail vibrax, and regular rooster tails are really good. other brands make little to no vibration and dont work as good.

I think largemouth respond to top waer pretty good to. I like top water because unless you throw them in a tree you don’t lose them to snags since they skim the water. If you get snagged with top waer you should have seen it. Plus the strike is fun to watch. :D Good luck with your Rooster Tails. PS my friend buys home made inline spinners. They have a trebble hook, a blade, and beads for the body. He catches bass all the time wih them. Might be good to look into if you are cheap like me. :P

yeah rubber worms . top water works pretty good but i dont like small mouths there kinda picky

  12. powerman2442on 28 Dec 2009 at 1:15 am 12

By worms you mean rubber worms right? Yeah f you live in Texas an inline spinner would be great for you right now. In Ohio it is still a bit cold and you have to retrieve slow. But I’d try spinnerbaits like the first one bassrigs shows and inline spinners. Doesn’ texas have some good top water small mouth fishing? I’ve heard things about it, never been there or anything.

o i live on houston and the water is up pretty high now and my worms are doing great and ima start using scum frogs

  14. powerman2442on 28 Dec 2009 at 2:52 am 14

Yeah the water temp in Ohio isn’t even 50 degrees yet and a few of my friend have caught bass with them. You can get Rooster Tail or Mepps. There are other off brands that are just as good. Depending on water temp adjust your speed of your retrieve.

  15. jtr10411on 28 Dec 2009 at 3:29 am 15

but are they good for bass?

  16. powerman2442on 28 Dec 2009 at 3:42 am 16

Yeah, Mepps inline spinners are good to. I’d say buy the cheapest inline spinners you can find. They pretty much work all the same.

Think the second one is an X-Rap. The second one is definitely a Rattlin’ Rapala, they are about the cheapest Rapala lure you can buy. First time I used a RR I caught a 3 pound largemouth after two casts and another 3 pounder the cast right after releasing the first one. Hooked on the Rattlin’ Rapalas. You can get “off-brand” lures that look near identical for half the price. I personally think that RRs work best for year round bass fishing.
