What is a good bass lure for fishing over/around hydrilla?

I fish at this lake filled with hydrilla in many areas. I have found this one area where i have seen a lot of large bass cruising by. I don’t have a lure that can tough through this gunk! The Wormist has recommended some of those Rage Tail toads but i just can’t afford them at this moment. Any bait that is similar to the rage tail that will work?
If not, then what would you recommend?
Thanks Wormist.

The Wormiston 26 Aug 2010 at 3:44 am 1any of the other soft frogs rigged the same way. 5/0 EWG hook with a coil bait keeper or any of the other keeper type unweighted swimbait hooks in 5/0.
search “frogs” on ebay. there are a couple good dealer/manufacturers that have some good frogs. one even sells a kit of frogs and hooks. get the larger frogs. l think he calls himself “152nd st baits” he’s a good guy.

Stop near the openings and then slowly pull the worm over the edge, hesitate a second or two, then move it again. When the fish hit, count 1001, then set the hook. You’ll have to muscle it out of the weeds because if you let it swim away it’ll just bury itself and your worm more. I try to raise my rod tip high in the air and muscle the fish across the top of the weeds out into the open water.
Have fun…this is a neat way of pulling the big ones out ot the weeds.
dumdumon 26 Aug 2010 at 5:30 am 3I have only found two lures that will handle the real thick stuff. That’s the frogs and the Yum Dinker or similar type of lure rigged Texas style and weightless. This lure will go through the thick stuff with the greatest of ease. Try the lure. You’ll love it.
Bobspaceyon 26 Aug 2010 at 5:58 am 4I have a few articles on the best bass fishing lures to use for any situation. Also at most of the articles there is one main video to watch which will help. I have also been writing for a bass fishing blog both the articles and the blog have many tips tricks and techniques.

And so what if you can’t afford ‘em? Buy ‘em anyway! It’s the American way!
