Where is a good place to fish for Peacock Bass in South Florida?

We want t o do this on our own…not with a guide service!
To be a little more specific, is there a place west of Hollywood Florida that we can go…we don’t know the canals and haven’t found a map as of yet.

jonesteron 12 Aug 2010 at 10:29 pm 2there are some good spots, very good spots , but those ill keep to myself. I will tell you where you can find them though. A good, not great, spot is on the way to flamingo right before you enter the everglades national park there are three canals you will cross. All of them have peacocks.If you look by the gates,quietly, you can see them.Some of these fish are pushing eight pounds.they see some pressure so they arent easy but i do well with 3/8th oz bucktails.
