which top water lure works best? what time? what season? what temp? i can either be fishing for largemouth?

bass or smallmouth bass, what im thinking about is a buzzbait, walk-the-dog lure, a popper, a skitter pop. what size and color works best for these lures?

Jerryon 24 Aug 2010 at 5:47 pm 1Tiny torpedo clear with ribs painted on it are my favorite for quantity and biggest jointed jitterbug for quality black and at midnight for biggest fish. Oh and wear one red sock and one white sock it really works for me.

1. Spro Bronzeye Frog- If your fishing dense vegetation this is one of THE “go to” lures to have in your box. You only need 2 colors- Black & White. (Make sure to use a BRAIDED line with a Spro frog. You will get better hooksets!)

4. Rapala, X-Rap Subwalk- This is a KILLER for lake Smally’s. It “walks the dog” under the surface. Best colors for Smally’s?- Bone Chartreuse & Red Ghost. Get the 5/8 size- Why? If I had to pick only 3, I’d pick the Spro Frog, Ribbit Frog and Spook Jr. Why? The Spro can go anywhere without getting fouled, the Ribbit replaces my Buzzbait’s AND is weedless, and the Spook Jr is a basic “walk the dog”. All 3 cover water effectively AND quickly.
